Brian McKee

Brian has been playing drums for over fourteen years and joined his local church band at the age of sixteen. His education at the Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis greatly enhanced his understanding of studio drumming and recording techniques. He has played in various band arrangements across the U.S. and has developed his guitar and bass skills to aid his songwriting.Teaching music to children has helped Brian refine his central mission: to share his love for music and its transformative impact. His teaching approach centers on making personal connections with students, understanding their interests related to and beyond their musical endeavors to better tailor the lessons. Brian specializes in Indie Rock as a songwriter, enjoys Classic Rock and Worship music as a fan, and has a deep appreciation for Hip-Hop drumming.During his time as a Music Teacher at Santa Barbara Creative Education, Brian led two classes of five to twelve-year-olds in vocal performances of "Deck the Halls" and "Octopus' Garden," which were enthusiastically received by families and friends. It was both memorable and rewarding for him to see the students' growth and happiness from learning and performing the songs. Brian believes that music can more effectively communicate the emotions and soul than words alone. He aims to instill a sense of endless curiosity about music in his students, encouraging them to listen intently, challenge themselves, and enjoy enhancing their performance skills and music theory knowledge. These are lessons he hopes they will carry into many aspects of their lives.
