I am approaching my ninth year on the clarinet, having been a member of the Lamphere bands for five years and the LHS Marching Band for one season. I also played with the Faith Christian Band for two years and the Faith Baptist Church orchestra for two years. Additionally, I entered two Christian competitions and received the highest scores. I have performed with the Dearborn Youth Symphony for three seasons, with a fourth upcoming (the first two were prior to COVID). I am also nearing my seventh or eighth year on the alto saxophone, which I taught myself to play. I joined the Lamphere Jazz Band for one season, during which I performed a solo that I composed myself. I believe teaching should be both fun and understandable. Every student should leave a lesson with knowledge they can confidently share, as if they have always known the material. On the clarinet, I specialize in a variety of styles, including Classical, Jazz, Folk, Traditional, Pop, Film, and Marches. With the alto saxophone, I primarily focus on Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, and Marches. Music is a vital part of my life because it helps me stay grounded and focused on my surroundings and tasks. It also allows me to understand and express the emotions of others. My goal is to show people that music can illuminate many aspects of life, whether they are good, bad, difficult, or beautiful.
