Meet Katie Akers, your voice teacher at the Grosse Pointe Music Academy of Clinton Township! With a B.F.A in Acting and a minor in Musical Theatre from Wayne State University, Katie has a passion for the art and stage that dates back to her 1st-grade days. She is a working actor and has performed in several productions, including Opera MODO’s “Into the Woods” as Little Red Riding Hood.

Katie is well-rounded in music and acting and has a passion for teaching others. She offers 1:1 lessons in Music Theory, Acting, and Singing. For Music Theory, students can expect to learn all the basic and intermediate skills of reading, writing, and performing music, with a focus on improving sight-reading techniques. In Acting, Katie provides individual coaching for auditions, school programs, and shows, bringing both her schooling and real-world experience to the table. For Singing, she is perfect for beginner soprano or alto based voices and will help you build a repertoire, improve your warm-up techniques, and aid in performance and audition preparation.
